The BE-HyFE White Paper is one of the key outcomes of the BE-HyFE project, bringing together insights from researchers across the Belgian hydrogen research landscape.
The initiative for the white paper came from the researchers themselves. Throughout the project, PhD researchers from multiple institutions collaborated across different technological and non-technological domains, exchanging knowledge and exploring how their work connects within the broader hydrogen ecosystem.
Rather than limiting their work to individual PhD dissertations and scientific papers, the researchers joined forces to translate their insights into a clear and accessible overview for policymakers and industry. Their complementary expertise and system-level perspective place them in a strong position to provide a balanced view on hydrogen’s role in Belgium’s future energy system.
The white paper was therefore developed as a way to capture these reflections and present them in a structured and accessible format. It is intended for a wide audience involved in shaping the hydrogen ecosystem, including policymakers, industry stakeholders, researchers and innovation actors.
To make the document easy to navigate, the white paper follows a clear structure with thematic sections that reflect different dimensions of the hydrogen ecosystem: making, moving & using.
By consolidating the knowledge developed within BE-HyFE, the white paper aims to support dialogue between research, industry and policy communities and contribute to ongoing discussions on hydrogen innovation in Belgium.
This document separates sense from nonsense, avoids hype and dogma, and provides a compass for choices that will shape Belgium’s energy future.
